Final Four: Spartans, Heels head to Title game showdown

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

It was an amazing atmosphere. All 72,000 fans that packed the stadium had the time of their life whether their team won or lost. The city of Detroit has done a great job in preparing the setting and making the atmosphere most friendly. As I correctly predicted in my previous article: Prediction: Michigan State 76 – Connecticut 73 (ACTUAL SCORE 82-73) The Spartans will try to run with the Huskies but that Big Ten style ball will come out to be the difference as they’ll pull out the win with their grind it out style of defense. North Caroline 87 [...]

The Final Four is set to get under way just a few hours from now. The Four features some very intriguing star power that will definitely hear their names called come NBA Draft 2009. The Final Four tips off first with one of the top one seeds, the UConn Huskies, going up against home field advantaged Michigan State Spartans. That game will be followed by the Villanova Wildcats trying to pull off an upset of the Mighty Carolina Tar Heels. For two teams, their dreams will be shattered tonight. Dwight Howard takes time to answer your questions

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Dwight answer’s your questions SEGMENT 1: QUESTION: I’m Dwight ’s biggest fan in the world, and yes I am a girl. And no I don’t just like him because he’s cute, which he is. I like Dwight because he is very dominant in the game of basketball. My question to him would be how does it feel to be considered one of the most dominant men to play the sport. — Andrea Byers DWIGHT: It feels good that people consider me a dominant player, but I don’t consider myself that way because there are still so many things that I’m [...]

Magic host showdown with LeBron, Cavs

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

For two of the top contenders to represent the Eastern Conference in this year’s NBA finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic certainly aren’t coming off championship-caliber performances. Still, with the postseason looming, there will be a playoff-like atmosphere in Orlando on Friday night, when LeBron James’ Cavs and Dwight Howard’s Magic each try to rebound from a disappointing defeat and earn the upper hand in a potential conference finals preview. With two of the league’s brightest stars leading the way, Cleveland (61-14) and Orlando (55-19) have been among the NBA’s top teams all season, and they’re both hoping to [...]

Magic winning streak snapped by Raptors

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Stan Van Gundy had warned his Orlando Magic players that not giving a full effort every game, even against teams with losing records, was bound to catch up with them. Unfortunately for Van Gundy, he was right. Chris Bosh had 24 points, including a 22-footer over Dwight Howard with 29 seconds left that put the game out of reach, and the Toronto Raptors beat Orlando 99-95 on Wednesday night to bounce the Magic from the Eastern Conference’s second seed. “You try to talk about it and warn, but we’ve gotten away with this kind of play in just [...]

Magic pull off Prank despite loss

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Magic’s PR and Marketing team sure had some fun with April Fools’ Wednesday in Orlando. Let me try my best to explain. Giddy with whoopee cushion excitement all night long, the Magic pretended to “trade” Dwight Howard to the Oklahoma City Thunder, “re-sign” former great Penny Hardaway, and “play professional basketball” exactly like the Washington Generals. (They nailed that last one flawlessly, falling 99-95 to the sub-sub-sub-.500 Raptors.) But the best prank of the evening came during half-time when the Magic staff appeared to crush the hopes and dreams of one poor, unsuspecting lad. Keywords here: “appeared to” … [...]

Orlando Magic look to make it seven straight

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic have relied on Dwight Howard to help them put together winning streaks all season. Chris Bosh and the Toronto Raptors are surging much too late. In a matchup featuring two of the league’s best young big men, the Magic look to match their season high with seven straight wins while trying to deal Bosh and the Raptors their first defeat in five games Wednesday night. Orlando (55-18), trying to remain percentage points ahead of Boston for second place in the Eastern Conference, is attempting to win seven in a row for the third time this season. In [...]
