Free Agency Quick Hits

The Knicks are pursuing Jason Kidd and Grant Hill according to Howard Beck. Grant Hill is a name that’s showing back up on the Magic’s radar as a potential backup at PG, SG, and SF. Hill spent 7 injury filled years with Orlando before bolting to try and win a title with Phoenix (Phoenix missed the playoffs last season while Orlando made the finals). There were rumors that Hill was going to be traded back to Orlando last season for G JJ Redick. We’ll have more on this later.
Beck also mentions that the Lakers and Orlando are interested in Nate Robinson. Really?
The Magic, along with the Spurs, Cavs and Celtics contacted Rasheed Wallace just after midnight.
Wallace, considered to be the top free-agent target for a Spurs team in desperate search for a big man, fielded similar calls from Orlando, Cleveland, Boston and elsewhere in the first few minutes of free agency.
According to Steve Kyler of hoopsworld.com, the Magic are interested in another one of their former players, SF Trevor Ariza.
Lakers Won’t Pay Ariza: Word is the L.A. Lakers will not go higher than the median exception for Trevor Ariza and that has not sat well with Ariza who will start entertaining other offers. Ariza is said to be the fall back option for the Trail Blazers, but the Cavaliers and Magic have expressed interest in Trevor. The word is if the Lakers do not increase their offer Trevor will go elsewhere for the median money rather than stay in L.A. which flies in the face of Trevor and his agents’ recent comments about bleeding “purple and gold”.
This would make zero sense. Why would the Magic offer big money for a player that they gave up on just a year and a half ago? And at this price?
Air Alamo is reporting that Ariza is most likely going to Portland or Toronto.
Lake Show Life has some advice for Trevor Ariza.
Kyler also says that there is no market for Shawn Marion. Could he be the replacement for Hedo?
D. Michael Lee thinks that Artest and Ariza, two players that the Magic are supposedly interested in, could switch places.
Over at King James Gospel says that the Cavs are discussing Ariza and Artest.
Rip City Project is reporting that the Rudy Fernandez rumors are not true.
RaptorsRapture does not want to fork over that much money for Turkoglu. I agree.

Rip City Project doesn’t seem to be paying attention then. Fernandez, on both Spanish radio and television, has said the personnel moves represent a problem for him and that he is entertaining offers.
