Magic Offered Turk a 5 Year, $45 Million Deal But He Still Selects Toronto?

Orlando ups the offer and Turk chooses Toronto?
Local 6, Orlando’s CBS affiliate, reported that the Orlando Magic have offered Forward Hedo Turkoglu a 5 year, $45 million deal.
According to ESPN.com, Hedo Turkoglu has turned down this deal and is heading to Toronto.
Free agent forward Hedo Turkoglu changed his mind Friday, deciding not to join the Portland Trail Blazers, opting instead to accept an offer from the Toronto Raptors, sources told ESPN.com.
The Raptors last-minute bid will give Turkoglu all of the salary-cap space they will get by renouncing their rights to Shawn Marion, Anthony Parker and Carlos Delfino. The Raptors expect to have about $10.1 million in cap space to give to Turkoglu for his first-year salary; he would get an eight percent annual raise over the next four seasons of the deal, a source told ESPN.com.
I’m not sure this is the worst thing that could have happened. $9 million a year is a lot for Turkoglu, not because of his skills or his age, but because I’m not sure that there would be enough shots to go around between Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter and Hedo.

I can’t believe these NBA guys do this over and over. What’s the difference between 9 and 10 million a year?
Funny satire article about Hedo’s flip flop.

July 5th, 2009 at 8:53 pmI like Turk, but he is not going to thrive in another offense. Especially, if the offense doesn’t have a double team magnet like D. Howard. Toronto is being optimistic, but Turk is in decline and his flaws will glare in Toronto.
At least, this season will help pry Bosh out of Toronto, as he demands to be traded to a contender.
Because of Canadian Taxes, isn’t Turk going to make less in Canada despite being paid more? Correct me if I am wrong, but no one is talking about this.
