The Orlando Magic have lost out on what seemed to be their biggest free agent target of the offseason. Just a day after losing F Hedo Turkoglu to Toronto, it appears that the Magic will lose out on Wallace. Not signing ‘Sheed wouldn’t be that bad if he wasn’t going to Boston, a team that the Magic will more than likely have to beat in order to return to the NBA Finals The Boston Globe is reporting that he will receive the mid level exception over the next two years. “Once (Wallace) had a chance to reflect on everything, and [...]
Vince Carter wants to see Rasheed Wallace in a Magic uniform according to the Orlando Sentinel. Carter spoke about Wallace from the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona where he was the honorary pace-car driver. Both Carter and Wallace attended the University of North Carolina. “He’s a veteran guy who knows how to play the game first and foremost,” Carter said. “He’s an unbelievable shooter. He’s very smart and he’s a motivator. Just from playing against him, he knows how to play basketball and he makes very [few] mistakes on the court. So, I think that’s big for our team. “A [...]
According to several sources, including NBA.com and ESPN.com, Magic Forward Hedo Turkoglu to Toronto is a done deal. Now, rumors are surfacing that this could become a sign and trade because before signing Turkoglu, the Raptors would have to renounce their rights to F Shawn Marion, G Carlos Delfino and F Anthony Parker. David Aldridge thinks Carlos Delfino could become a member of the Magic. But Delfino had to go, too, though a source indicated late Friday that the Raptors may explore a sign-and-trade deal with Orlando that would send Delfino to the Magic. See all of Alrdidge’s article here. [...]
Local 6, Orlando’s CBS affiliate, reported that the Orlando Magic have offered Forward Hedo Turkoglu a 5 year, $45 million deal. According to ESPN.com, Hedo Turkoglu has turned down this deal and is heading to Toronto. Free agent forward Hedo Turkoglu changed his mind Friday, deciding not to join the Portland Trail Blazers, opting instead to accept an offer from the Toronto Raptors, sources told ESPN.com. The Raptors last-minute bid will give Turkoglu all of the salary-cap space they will get by renouncing their rights to Shawn Marion, Anthony Parker and Carlos Delfino. The Raptors expect to have about $10.1 [...]
Hedo Backing Out of Portland Deal For Toronto?
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of yahoo.com, Hedo Turkoglu is backing out of the commitment he made to the Portland Trail Blazers and is now considering signing with the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors are thought to be offering Turkoglu $55 million over 5 years. This would contrast other reports that said the Raptors offered Shawn Marion a 4 year deal. His deal would said to be worth over $32 million. There seems to be no chance of Turkoglu in Portland now. The negotiations are said to be dead and they have turned their attention to other players. The Oregonian has learned [...]
Turkoglu, Blazers Agree On Deal
Henry Abbott of Truehoop is reporting that the Portland Trail Blazers have reach an agreement in principle with soon-to-be former Magic Forward Hedo Turkoglu. Turkoglu’s deal is suppose to be worth about $50 million over 5 years. No Free Agent can sign a contract until July 8. Turk met with Nate McMillan on Wednesday in Florida and has been in Portland for the last two days. This was expected but it is still a big blow to the Magic and their fans. Although I do think that Vince Carter is a better overall player, Turk still had great value as [...]
According to NBA analyst David Aldirdge, Rasheed Wallace will be in Orlando visiting the Magic next week. Boston lead owner Wyc Grousbeck, general manager Danny Ainge, head coach Doc Rivers, Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce all went to Detroit on Thursday to formally present Wallace with an offer for the full mid-level exception. But they left town without Wallace agreeing to a deal. Wallace will visit San Antonio and Orlando next week, according to a source, before making up his mind. Wallace is not likely to visit Cleveland. In a recent ESPN video interview, Dwight Howard says that he [...]
