Here’s a transcript of what I heard from Adonal Foyle on Monday at Media Day.
On Dwight Howard’s development
Dwight obviously is a phenomenal talent but I think last year probably did more for his game than anything else. Dwight has a good game and he has proven it but when you are capable of dunking the ball every single time, you don’t think you have to use a lot of the other stuff you’ve learned. But I think from the experiences from playoffs and the finals, I think what that did is just show him that you use these skills not [...]

On going back to France
It’s always good to go back and see your family. When you come here in September, you have your mind fresh. It’s going to be a long season and we want it to be a long season because we really want to win the championship.
On starting
I like to come off the bench. I don’t mind if Matt Barnes starts. It’s just a matter of winning a championship.
I don’t mind if guys start or come off the bench. It’s all about team here and getting this team to the next level. That’s what I’m looking for. I [...]
Tania Ganguli has the morning practice report. Ganguli reported that the scrimmage went better and she has a little bit of news about Vince Carter playing Point Guard.
Vince Carter played at point guard, small forward and shooting guard today. He likes running the team (and his mouth) and said he felt comfortable operating the offense.
You can see her full report here.
Josh Robbins has the late afternoon practice report and reported that Van Gundy won’t decide on lineups until the last week of the preseason.
Van Gundy said it’s too early to start evaluating players to determine who will be in the [...]
I have uploaded over 120 photos from Orlando Magic Media Day. You can find them here.
Tania Ganguli has a report from Orlando’s first practice this morning. Adonal Foyle did not participate and the practice was described as very sloppy.
Stan Van Gundy had a blue notecard covered in red writing which he said were all the mistakes he noted from this morning’s first practice of training camp. Van Gundy conjectured “upwards of 100″ turnovers during the scrimmage in which each player got about 27 minutes of playing time.
See Ganguli’s full report here.
Josh Robbins has an update from Orlando’s second [...]

Next up is another new member of the Orlando Magic, Forward Matt Barnes.
On who has surprised him so far
Seeing and playing against these guys, no one really surprised me. I’m just amazed at how much better Dwight keeps getting. I’m very excited to work with him. Along with playing with Vince, who’s someone I’ve always admired. Me and Rashard are in the same year, so I’m excited to play with him. Jameer’s a great point guard so I’m glad to see he’s healthy. I get to play with Pietrus again. We were together in Golden State along with Adonal. So [...]
I have a lot to bring you from Media Day. I’ll have photos, audio, and my own personal thoughts on each of the players along with a transcript of what I heard from certain players. I’ll focus on the players that I got to have a little more time with but will touch on the entire roster.
First up, a new member of the Magic, Brandon Bass, who has one main goal – winning a championship. When Bass was asked about why he chose Orlando, he had an excellent response.
Because I’m all about winning and this organization is all about [...]
Orlando Magic News & Notes
As most of you, today was media day for the Orlando Magic. It was a blast and I got a lot of good comments from the players. I’ll have the audio of all of those interviews and conversations up throughout the week. I also took nearly 100 pictures. After I get a good look at all of them, I’ll post them for all of you to see.
The biggest thing that I took from media day is that everybody is team first. Nobody talked about individual stats at all. Brandon Bass answered each question about his individual goals with “championship,” while [...]

ESPN Doesn’t Hate The Magic
Unlike The Sporting News, Marc Stein of ESPN gave the Magic some love. They have ranked Orlando second in their Power Rankings just behind the defending world champion Los Angeles Lakers.
Since ‘89, only one team that lost in the Finals won it all the following year: last season’s Lakers. So I respect/applaud Orlando’s overhaul/big spending, even though I always saw Hedo as the Magic’s linchpin.
Although Stein is worried about the loss of Hedo Turkoglu to the Toronto Raptors, he really seems to like Orlando’s new additions to put them all the way up at #2. He wonders aloud if Vince [...]
