Usual starting guards Jameer Nelson and Vince Carter have been given the night off.
Brian Schmitz has three notes about the game.
1. New Griz PG Allen Iverson (torn hamstring) will not be chucking up shots for at least three weeks.
2. Last season Dwight Howard averaged just 14 ppg vs. Griz andPau Gasol’s brother, Marc.
3. Orlando is just 4-6 vs. Memphis in Howard era.
Schmitz also had an article that appeared in Sunday’s Orlando Sentinel about Vince Carter’s shooting woes. Carter is just 4-for-23 from downtown in three preseason games.
“I criticize myself for my shooting more than anybody does,” Carter said after Sunday’s practice. “I’m trying to take a different approach and not worry so much about it. I know it will come.”

Alston, Battie, and Lee were traded from the Magic to the New Jersey Nets over the summer as part of the Vince Carter deal. On Sunday they got their first take at the Celtics with their new team during preseason action at the TD Garden (RECAP HERE).
“They got a brand new season,” said Battie. “I mean, you look and Kevin (Garnett)’s back and Rasheed (Wallace)’s part of it. They got a great steal in getting Marquis Daniels so that and you have those three additions coming back in the team. So I think they’re the team to beat definitely.”
A little bitter, Tony?
Austin Burton of Dime Magazine thinks that Jameer Nelson will not make the All-Star team this year and shouldn’t have made it last year.
Nelson had better all-around numbers then any of his competition, including Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Mo Williams.
