Tonight the Orlando Magic will take on the New Orleans Hornets at 8:00 EST in Wichita, Kansas. As usual, the game will not be televised in Central Florida. You can hear it on WDBO AM 580. The Spanish broadcast can be heard on WONQ AM 1030.

Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy is going to continue giving his players a rest. Tonight, Shooting Guard JJ Redick and Forward Matt Barnes are scheduled to have the night off.

End of 3rd Quarter: Magic lead 100-64. Ryan Anderson has 22 points and is 6-for-9 from downtown. The Magic are shooting 62.5% from beyond the arc (15-for-24).

Halftime: Orlando leads 67-41. They are shooting 19-of-29 from the field (65.5%) and 9-of-13 from beyond the arc (69.2%).  They are holding the Hornets to 29.7% from the field. Vince Carter leads the Magic with 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting and is 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Brandon Bass has 9 points and 8 rebounds. This is a very good sign because Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy was vocal about Bass’ need to rebound the ball better. Rashard Lewis has 9 points while Mickael Pietrus is having another solid game, scoring 8 points so far.

Starters:

Orlando
Dwight Howard
Ryan Anderson
Rashard Lewis
Vince Carter
Jameer Nelson

New Orleans
Hilston Armstrong
David West
Julian Wright
Devin Brown
Chris Paul

Here’s Tania Ganguli’s mid-morning buzz. There are a lot of notes on both New Orleans and Memphis.

I still can’t believe Memphis Coach Lionel Hollins said out-loud that the officials favor Dwight Howard.

Howard, who usually doesn’t think he ever gets a break from the officials, said incredulously, “Are you kidding? Somebody said I was getting calls?”

Read the rest here.

Rashard Lewis knows what he’ll be doing during his suspension.

Lewis plans on pedaling his bike from the comfort of his living room while watching the Orlando Magic play games on TV.

“I have a cycle bike and I’m going to prop it up and ride it at home while I watch us play,” he said before the Magic defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 102-83 on Monday night at FedExForum. “I’ll just do it for about a half or so. I don’t know what I’m going to do when we’re on the road.

“Can I get an exercise bike in my room?”

Lewis, exiled for taking a performance-enhancement supplement, is banned from the arena. But he can still practice and travel with the club and attend shootarounds, so it’s not like he can’t get any cardiovascular exercise.

  1. Magic dominating 35-21.

Vince Carter has 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting and is 2-of-2 from downtown.

  2. GoMagic says:

Magic’s stats sheet look like a game of NBA Live. Ryan Anderson 22 points on 18 minutes. Team shot 63.3% from the field from 3pt land. Lets hope they can keep this up into the regular season. The only thing I don’t like is VC had 0 assists and played the most. I’m very excited after these first 5 games, I’d have to say this is one of the deepest benches I’ve seen in the league in a long time, and probably the best team Orlando has ever had. Lets just hope they come together and play as a team.

  3. That was just ridiculous.

I think Vince’s #s will come, he’s just trying to find his shot right now.
