Orlando Magic News & Notes: Almond Waived

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Magic have waived Guard Morris Almond following last night’s win over the Pacers. Their roster now stands at 14. The Magic defeated the Pacers 117-87. Click here to see my recap. Jason Williams looked good last night and he has undoubtedly locked down the backup Point Guard spot. Someone yelled to Jason Williams while he was warming up an hour-and-a-half before the Orlando Magic faced the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night at Amway Arena. “White Chocolate!” said Pacers assistant coach Lester Conner. “White Chocolate’s gone for good,” Williams replied, with a smile. White Chocolate — the alias that Williams [...]

Magic Defeat The Pacers 117-87, Stay Perfect in the Preseason

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic returned to Amway arena for the first time since October 9th to play host to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. The Magic came away with a 30-point victory to improve to 7-0 in the preseason. Orlando started Matt Barnes at Power Forward because Head Coach Stan Van Gundy wanted to get a look at him there in case Barnes needs to play the position while Rashard Lewis is out during his 10-game suspension to start the season. The Magic got off to an excellent start defensively, holding the Pacers to just 16 points in the first [...]

The Magic will take on the Indiana Pacers tonight at 7:00 PM EST at Amway Arena. The game will not be televised but you can listen to it locally on WDBO AM 580 and you can tune to WONQ AM 1030 for the Spanish version. Click here to see the Sentinel’s preview of tonight’s game. Someone at the Sporting News actually knows what they’re talking about! Bethlehem Shoals loves Orlando’s squad. Look, I’ve enjoyed watching Turkoglu come into his own as much as the next guy. For too long, he was the tantalizing could-be that somehow attracted no rancor, but [...]

Adonal Foyle Undergoes Knee Surgery

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Adonal Foyle has yet to play in the preseason with a knee injury. It looks like the injury was a little more severe then we originally thought. Orlando, FL – Orlando Magic center Adonal Foyle has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. His return to action will depend on how he responds to treatment. Foyle has not played in any of Orlando’s preseason outings. He appeared in 10 games last season with both the Magic and Memphis, averaging 1.7 ppg. and 2.6 rpg. in 6.2 minpg. Foyle was traded to Memphis as part [...]

Orlando Magic Season Preview: Forwards

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Forward has become arguably the deepest position on the roster for the Magic. It can be argued that Orlando did not have one true Power Forward on their roster. Well, that has changed. Brandon Bass is a natural PF and a pretty damn good one too. Orlando also added Small Forward Matt Barnes and Ryan Anderson, who has PF size, but can probably play either position. I’ve already previewed the guards here. Small Forwards Matt Barnes 2008-09 Statistics: 77 games played, 27.0 minutes per game, 10.2 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game, .7 steals per [...]

Orlando Magic News & Notes: Magic Defeat the Bulls, Ranked 8th by the Sporting News

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Click here to see my game recap. The Magic are still trying to figure out what to do with their lineup and Brandon Bass will be an important part of that decision whether he is a starter or not. To prepare for forward Rashard Lewis’s 10-game suspension, the Magic sat Lewis the entire game. In his stead, the Magic will start Bass, Ryan Anderson or Matt Barnes. That jumper is one way in which Bass has distinguished himself, but all three have impressed their teammates and coaches, leaving Van Gundy with a difficult decision. Barnes played mostly small forward Monday [...]

Magic Defeat the Bulls, Remain Unbeaten in the Preseason

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Orlando Magic defeated the Chicago Bulls 101-98 in the United Center Monday night. I kept a live blog throughout the game and you can see that here. Once again, turnovers plagued the Magic. They had 18 more in what was a pretty sloppy performance, but the Magic kept their composure and came from behind to defeat the Bulls. The Magic played pretty bad defensively and allowed the Bulls to shoot 50% from the field (37-of-74), but they did make some key stops when they had to. Orlando shot 46.5% from the field (33-of-71) and was 8-of-19 from downtown. Orlando [...]
