Final: Magic win 108-94
- The Magic emptied the bench and had a poor fourth quarter.
- I’ll have a full recap and analysis after the post-game.
End of Third Quarter: Magic lead 88-58
- The Magic held the Thunder to just 15 points in the period. In fact, it took the Thunder just under four minutes to make a field goal in the second half.
- The Magic shot 9-0f-21 in the quarter, but made three more 3-pointers and were 6-of-10 from the free throw line.
- Rashard Lewis has 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists.
- The Magic did a good job of getting the ball into Dwight Howard. Before picking up his fourth foul, he scored 7 points in the period.
- Matt Barnes and Brandon Bass have yet to enter the game.
- Orlando has four players in double figures (Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus, Rashard Lewis, and Dwight Howard).
Halftime: Magic lead 61-43
- The Magic shot 52% in the period (12-of-23) and are shooting 55.8% for the game.
- The Magic were on fire from downtown in the quarter, going 5-of-8 in the period.
- The Magic continue to pass the ball extremely well. They have 16 assists and just 3 turnovers. The Thunder have 6 assists and 7 turnovers.
- On one particular play, Jason Williams threw a perfect bounce pass to Rashard Lewis who then threw another excellent bounce pass to Mickael Pietrus for a dunk.
- Vince Carter is having an excellent game. He’s attacking the basket and knocking down his shots. He is 6-of-8 from the field (2-of-3 from downtown) and has 16 points.
- Rashard Lewis has 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. He hit his first 3-pointer of the season in the second quarter.
- Dwight Howard has played just 9 minutes and has 3 fouls. He has 4 points and 6 rebounds.
- Marcin Gortat picked up the slack for Dwight Howard. He has 7 points and his 3-point play stopped a 6-0 run by the Thunder that cut the lead to 53-39.
- Anthony Johnson looked pretty good when came in. He hit a runner and another basket from just did inside the 3-point line. He has 4 points and 2 assists in 7 minutes.
- Orlando’s bench (AJ, J.J. Redick, Gortat and Ryan Anderson) have combined for 21 points.
- Anderson has 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in just 8 minutes.
- Rookie James Harden has 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting off of the bench for Oklahoma City and is the second-leading scorer in the game.
End of First Quarter: Magic lead 28-17
- The Magic played much better on both ends of the court in the first quarter.
- Orlando shot 60% in the quarter (12-of-20) and held the Thunder to just 31.8% (7-of-22).
- I really like the way the Magic attacked the basket, especially Vince Carter. I’ve been calling for him to do that since the start of the preseason.
- Not only have they scored on layups and dunks but it has got the Magic easy 3-pointers.
- The ball movement has been much better. Both Ryan Anderson and Rashard Lewis have assisted on 3-pointers after making excellent cross-court passes.
- The bad news? Dwight Howard was called for two early fouls. Again.
