John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com is reporting that the NBA has reviewed the technical foul called on Dwight Howard last night and has decided to rescind it.
The league office reviewed the incident from Monday’s third quarter when Howard was pulled down by his shoulders and neck by Indiana power forward Troy Murphy. At the time, Howard pushed Murphy off of him following the hard foul and both players were assessed technical fouls.
On Tuesday, the league rescinded Howard’s technical foul and upgraded Murphy’s foul to a Flagrant 1 penalty. The league agreed that Howard didn’t throw a punch and was instead just shoving Murphy off of him.

Howard was fouled hard by Troy Murphy around his neck and shoulders and attempted to push Murphy away from him, but missed. The Pacers argued that a punch was thrown while Howard and the Magic said that this was not the case at all.
Howard talked about the situation after the game.
“There should be no suspension. There was no contact, no punches thrown. Everybody should know the difference between a punch and a push. I was just trying to get him off me. There shouldn’t be any more problems.”
Howard finished the game with 21 points, 23 rebounds and 4 blocks.
