Orlando Magic News & Notes: Nelson Returns
The Orlando Magic will take on the Utah Jazz Monday night. Check out my thoughts about Monday’s game here. Magic Forward Matt Barnes, who has a sore left hand, will also play against the Jazz. Mike Bianchi wonders if the Magic have spoiled their fans. He’s among the league leaders in blocked shots, blocking 2.3 shots per game. Howard is still struggling from the free throw line, shooting 59%, but is shooting 63.2% from the field and is scoring 17.9 points per game. Howard’s numbers may have seen a slight dip from last [...]
Jameer Nelson Could Play Monday Night
Earlier on Sunday, through the official Orlando Magic twitter, John Denton said that Jameer Nelson could play limited minutes on Monday. Denton has elaborated on that earlier tweet. If there’s no swelling in Nelson’s knee, the Magic’s captain should play. The original plan called for him to return on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets, but Nelson impressed in practice the past two days so much so that he could be on the floor against Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz. Magic coach Stan Van Gundy has said that Nelson is his starting point guard once fully healthy, but because he’s [...]
The Magic came from behind to beat the Portland Trail Blazers Saturday night. Find out how it happened here. Vince Carter is in the middle of a shooting slump. “Like everybody else, I thought he played very, very hard defensively today,” Van Gundy said. “I was happy with his effort. I know there’s not going to be too many 1-for-14s in him. I think it’s always good for Vince or for anybody that when you have one of those days that your team gets a win and you can shake it off a lot easier and a lot quicker.” Van [...]
