It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t pretty but the Magic came away with a 92-83 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Saturday night. This was an ugly game to watch. Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy says that Jameer Nelson will not return an earlier than Wednesday. It was originally thought that Nelson could return to the lineup Monday. Van Gundy said, “It just depends on how he looks. The Magic came out flat, lacked energy and showed no effort on defense. The Heat, on the other hand, came out with a lot of energy and shot the ball very well. Vince Carter has had to be patient throughout his NBA career. The Orlando Magic did what they were supposed to do on Wednesday night. Orlando played the Toronto Raptors, the worst defensive team in the league, and torched them for a 118-99 victory. Rashard Lewis had a game-high 21 points while Dwight Howard scored 18 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and showed why he is the reigning defensive player of the year, blocking 8 shots.
