Magic Grind Out Victory Over Blazers

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t pretty but the Magic came away with a 92-83 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Saturday night. This was an ugly game to watch. Poor shooting and turnovers were the story of the game on both sides. Each played well on the defensive end. This was expected from the Blazers as they have been one of the elite defensive team so far this season. For the Magic, it was an excellent sign because they have had many problems on defense this season, especially as of late. The Magic, much like they did in Thursday’s [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy says that Jameer Nelson will not return an earlier than Wednesday. It was originally thought that Nelson could return to the lineup Monday. Van Gundy said, “It just depends on how he looks. We’ll have to see if he’s up to speed,” Van Gundy said. “He’s got to go through a practice.” Nelson, who made the trip with the Magic to Miami, said before the game that he’d like to participate in Saturday’s shootaround before the team faces the Portland Trail Blazers. Magic Blown Out By Heat in Worst Effort of the Season

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Magic came out flat, lacked energy and showed no effort on defense. The Heat, on the other hand, came out with a lot of energy and shot the ball very well. That’s a recipe for a blowout and that’s exactly what happened. The Heat dominated the game from start to finish and came away with their second consecutive win over the Magic, 104-86. Dwayne Wade led the Heat with 25 points and 7 rebounds. The Heat came out with a lot of energy as soon as the game started. Dwight Howard was very active early on and altered some [...]

For Vince Carter, Patience is the Key

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Vince Carter has had to be patient throughout his NBA career. Carter had to show patience when he had his comments taken out of context and Raptors fans were led believe that Carter was a lazy player who put it in cruise control and tanked through the end of his Toronto career. Carter had to be patient when he suffered through losing seasons in each of his last two seasons after advancing to the second round of the playoffs during the two seasons prior to that. Carter has been waiting for the opportunity to play for a championship contender. Carter, [...]

Orlando Magic News & Notes: J-Will’s Starting Gig Coming to an End?

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic defeated the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night and will have a quick turnaround as they play the Miami Heat on Thursday night. After the game, Brandon Bass told me he just wants to contribute. You can read more about Bass here. Jason Williams had an excellent game in what could be one of his last starts with Jameer Nelson set to return soon. “Stan talked to me and wanted me to be a little more aggressive,” Williams said afterward, a smile creeping onto his face. “So, if that’s what the boss wants, that’s what I’ve got to [...]

Brandon Bass: “I just want to contribute.”

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Before the season started, Brandon Bass said that he signed with the Magic with one goal in mind – winning the NBA championship. “I’m all about winning and this organization is all about winning. The team was a couple of plays away from winning the championship. With the new the guys we added and with the core they already have, I think we can win it all this year. I don’t got a problem being the team’s garbage man. Whatever the role may be, whatever it takes to win the championship, I’m with it. Whatever my role is, I want [...]

Magic Blow By Raptors

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic did what they were supposed to do on Wednesday night. Orlando played the Toronto Raptors, the worst defensive team in the league, and torched them for a 118-99 victory. Rashard Lewis had a game-high 21 points while Dwight Howard scored 18 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and showed why he is the reigning defensive player of the year, blocking 8 shots. Chris Bosh led the Raptors with 20 points. Orlando trailed early in the game but took the lead in at the 5:30 mark on a Vince Carter fadeaway and never looked back. Orlando finished the opening quarter [...]
