As reported earlier, Vince Carter does plan to play on Tuesday night against the Pacers.
Josh Robbins discusses how ankle sprains like Carter’s are so common in the NBA.
Orlando’s Ryan Anderson and Carter already missed four games apiece earlier this season with ankle injuries. Matt Barnes, Rashard Lewis, Mickael Pietrus and J.J. Redick also have tweaked their ankles in practices since September.
“It’s so common in this sport because you’re not looking down at the ground,” Anderson said. “It’s nearly impossible, I think, to stop an [ankle] injury unless you’re really, really watching it and not being as aggressive as normal.”

Magic play-by-play announcer David Steele weighs in on Orlando’s new starting lineup and compares to a change made for the better last season.
Almost exactly a year later, on January 6, 2009, Bogans was replaced again in the starting five, this time by rookie Courtney Lee. Like Evans the year before, Lee would stick with the starters the rest of the way.
Now, it’s Barnes replacing Pietrus, and it you can’t help but think that Van Gundy has a method here. Use the first 30-35 games to evaluate personnel, then, around the first of the calendar year, settle in on a starting lineup that has ample time to gel for hopefully a long post-season run.
