Per Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Jameer Nelson sat out Thursday’s practice. Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson sat out the team’s practice Thursday afternoon because his surgically repaired left knee swelled a bit following Wednesday night’s game win over the Indiana Pacers. The Orlando Magic put an end to their three-game losing streak by defeating the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night. Brian Schmitz says that the Magic made a stand with this victory. The Magic finally got off to a good start, dominating the first quarter to take a 40-20 lead. Orlando built their lead to 29 points before letting the Pacers cut it to as little as eight in the fourth quarter. In the end, Orlando held on for 109-98 victory to snap their three-game losing streak. Dwight Howard was an absolute monster on Wednesday night. Early in the game, it was obvious that Orlando’s plan was to get it to the big man. Orlando went to him on their first two possessions. Howard, who has had trouble getting the ball while in good position, got excellent position on Wednesday night. Howard had some difficulty finishing around the basket early and his teammates had some trouble getting the ball to him after the early stages in the first quarter, so Howard took matters into his own hands. The Orlando Magic raised their level of play against the Los Angeles Lakers but still couldn’t get the job done. They will get the chance to put an end to their three-game losing streak when they host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. The Pacers are coming off a blowout loss in Miami Tuesday night in Miami against the Heat. Per the Orlando Sentinel, Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy does not plan on making any major changes to the lineup. Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said after Wednesday’s practice that he would not be making any major changes to stir his team out of its slump. The Magic, who face Indiana tonight to begin the second half of the season, have lost seven of their last nine. “Making changes now would be like throwing something against a wall,” Van Gundy said. The Orlando Magic will host the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Howard the Dunk handed out their mid-season awards. Click here to see who won what. One specific award went to Vince Carter. You can read about why received that award here.

Vince Carter was just named Howard the Dunk’s biggest disappointment for the Magic so far in the 2009-10 season. No one was expecting Carter to be the same kind of player he was in his prime when he routinely averaged around 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game, but it was fair to expect Carter to be the same kind of player that he was last season when he played 36.8 minutes per game over 80 games, scored 20.8 points per game on 43.7% shooting (38.5% from downtown), grabbed 5.1 rebounds per game and dished out 4.1 assists [...]

After a 17-4 start, the Magic have not played well. Since then, the Magic are just 9-11, have lost nine of their last 11 road games and seven of their last nine games overall.
