Dwight Howard Named Eastern Conference Player Of The Week

Here’s the official word from the Magic:

ORLANDO’S DWIGHT HOWARD NAMED
NBA EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
-Howard is honored for the third time this season and 10th of his career-

For the third time this season and 10th of his career, the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Feb. 15-21.
Howard paced the league in rebounds (16.3 rpg) and blocks (5.3 bpg) and was fifth in scoring (28.0 ppg), leading Orlando to a 2-1 week. On Feb. 21, Howard tied a franchise record for most consecutive double-doubles (18), tallying 22 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Cleveland. On Feb. 17, Howard scored 33 points in a win over Detroit, moving him ahead of Shaquille O’Neal (8,019) for third on the Magic’s all-time scoring list.

Feb. 17 vs. Detroit: Recorded 33 points, 17 rebounds, seven blocks and three assists in a 116-91 win over the Pistons.
Feb. 19 vs. Dallas: Scored 29 points and added 16 rebounds and five blocks in a 95-85 loss to the Mavericks.
Feb. 21 vs. Cleveland: Tallied 22 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and two assists in a 101-95 win over the Cavaliers.

Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz was honored as the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week. Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Boston’s Ray Allen, Cleveland’s LeBron James, Dallas’ Jason Kidd, Detroit’s Richard Hamilton, Miami’s Michael Beasley and Jermaine O’Neal, New Orleans’ Darren Collison, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and Washington’s Andray Blatche.
