Q&A With Doug Collins

AUTHOR: | IN: Bloggers Talk, Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NBA offered me a chance to submit a few questions to Doug Collins and he answered one of those questions. Collins is currently an analyst for TNT and will be named the next Head Coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. HtD: What do you think is the most important match up in the Boston/Orlando series and why? DC: Well the thing that’s interesting to me is so much of what Orlando does goes through Dwight Howard. I did a game with Kevin McHale for Orlando this year, Kevin, one of the all time great big guys, talked about the effect [...]

Orlando Magic News & Notes: Magic Remain Confident

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Despite being down 0-2, the Magic are staying confident. People descended from the bandwagon that had seemed so crowded after the first and second rounds of the NBA playoffs. Commentators counted the team out. Many fans pronounced the squad’s championship hopes kaput. But Magic players and coaches sounded hopeful as they faced an 0-2 Eastern Conference finals deficit to the Boston Celtics with a trip to New England looming. They expressed confidence that they can become the fourth team in league history to win a best-of-seven series after it lost the first two games at home. “I just feel like [...]

The mood at the RDV Sportsplex wasn’t as bad you might think after a team just dropped two consecutive playoff games at home. Magic Remain Confident The Magic, who watched film before hitting the court, needed no reminders about the first two games and need no extra motivation because they know what’s on the line. “Nobody in the locker room has their head down or is complaining about last night,” Dwight Howard said. “We’ve moved on and we’re going to just try to get better.” “Our guys know what it’s all about,” Head Coach Stan Van Gundy said. “It’s all [...]

Orlando Magic News & Notes: Magic In a Big Hole

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic lost to the Boston Celtics 95-92 on Tuesday and fell behind 0-2 in the series. When Nelson’s heave from 30 feet fell short at the buzzer, the Magic were forced to stomach the first two-game losing streak at Amway Arena all season and stare down some daunting odds. In NBA history, 14 teams have come back to win best-of-seven series after falling into 0-2 holes. It happened as recently as 2008 when the San Antonio Spurs rallied to beat the New Orleans Hornets. Only three times in playoff history has a team lost the first two games [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

At shootaround earlier on Tuesday, Vince Carter did not take kindly when he was asked about Tuesday’s night game with the Boston Celtics possibly being the last game in the history of Amway Arena. Carter grew silent and shook his head, mumbling something. Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel has that story here. Dwight Howard and the Magic vow to play with more effort and energy Tuesday night. “More effort, more [...]

The NBA’s draft lottery will be held Tuesday night. In honor of the event, we’ll take a look back at one of the luckiest lottery teams of all-time, the Orlando Magic.
