The Orlando Magic took care of business Thursday night, easily winning their nationally televised game against the Steve Nash-less Phoenix Suns, 105-89. The Orlando Magic look to win their third straight game when they host the Phoenix Suns Thursday night. The Magic haven’t played since Monday while the Suns are in the midst of a four game road trip and were blown out by the Heat in Miami Wednesday night. Before their 123-96 loss, the Suns were playing very well. After starting the season 3-4, they won three straight games, which included victories over the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. The Magic believe their lack of toughness last season was one of the main reasons they were eliminated in six games by the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. It has also contributed to some of Orlando’s early season struggles. “That’s another thing we’ve talked about, just being tougher,” Magic guard J.J. Redick said. “Not just physically, but mentally. Obviously, the Magic would be interested in acquiring two players of this caliber but it didn’t appear they had the tools to make a deal. Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel, disagrees. The Magic have a veteran package they can hand over to Denver: Shooting guard Vince Carter ($17 mill), center Marcin Gortat ($6 mill) and point guard Jameer Nelson ($7 mill). 2010-2011 Week Three S&M Power Poll Wednesday is usually the day Brian Serra puts together our NBA power poll but this week, Brian, is participating in the Turkey Bowl, where he will try to quarterback his Army team to victory over the Navy. Being a diverse player with the ability to do many things on the court is a quality the Magic look for in their players. When you’re familiar with a certain position in basketball, it’s extremely difficult to switch to another position; no matter how similar the positions appear to be.
