Magic cruise on the road against Hakeem-less Rockets

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic blew out their opponent for the second straight game and defeated the Houston Rockets Saturday night by a score of 118-104.  Despite traveling after their game last night, the Magic came out with plenty of energy and shot the ball light outs during the first half to keep the game from every being in question.  No conclusive word on if this was a revenge victory from 1995. The Magic scored 68 points during the first half and led by 17 points.  Five of their scorers were already in double figures at the half.  The Magic would finish [...]

Magic squeak by Raptors with forty point win

AUTHOR: | IN: Orlando Magic | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic escaped with a 40-point win on Friday night at home against the pride of Canada, the Toronto Raptors, by a score of 112-72. After only being up 8 at the half, the Magic upped their intensity and shut down the Raps in the second half behind a beastly 17 point 3rd quarter from Dwight Howard.  Dwight finished the night with 31 points and 19 rebounds and would have likely dropped 40 if he wouldn’t have been pulled for the night at the end of the third.  A 39 point 4th quarter from the Magic sealed the blowout. [...]

Orlando Magic Notebook: Anderson Stepping Up, Arenas Staying Positive

AUTHOR: | IN: Analysis | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Ryan Anderson Stepping Up Just over a month ago, Ryan Anderson had fallen out of Orlando’s rotation in favor of Brandon Bass and Rashard Lewis. Shortly after, Anderson sprained his right foot and that injury cost him nine more games. After Orlando dealt Rashard Lewis to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Gilbert Arenas, leaving Anderson as one of Orlando’s only two power forwards, Anderson rejoined the rotation. Since returning from his injury, Anderson has played in 14 games, averaging 12.6 points per game and has scored in double figures in 12 of those games. Anderson led the Magic in [...]

Magic Stage Late Rally, Take Down 76ers In Overtime

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic finally returned home Wednesday night when they took on the Philadelphia 76ers. The Magic, who lost to the 76ers 97-89 back December 18th, presented a different look this time. In that game, they were without their four newcomers. This time, Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu all played but it was Ryan Anderson who was the hero for the Magic. Anderson finished with 20 points and four rebounds, helping the Magic to a 99-98 overtime victory. Lou Williams again led the 76ers in scoring with 19 points off of the bench. The Magic got off to [...]

Philadelphia 76ers @ Orlando Magic

AUTHOR: | IN: Previews | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic, losers of three of their last four games, will try to back on the right track when they host the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night. The 76ers defeated the Magic in Orlando back on December 18th, winning 97-89. On that day, the Magic were short-handed and could only play three backups, two of them being point guards Chris Duhon and Jason Williams, because the Magic had just completely their major trades. Lou Williams scored 24 points off the bench to lead the 76ers while Dwight Howard had 26 points and 20 rebounds. The 76ers have won two straight, [...]

Magic Defense Becoming A Cause For Concern?

AUTHOR: | IN: Analysis | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Orlando Magic’s improvement on the offensive end since the deals that brought them Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson, Gilbert Arenas and Earl Clark has been well-documented and rightfully so. Since the deals were completed, the Magic are scoring 8.5 more points per game, are shooting at a higher percentage from the field (46.7% to 46.4%) and from beyond the arc (41.5% to 35.2%) but their poor play on the defensive end in a cause for concern. The Magic were giving up 92.8 points per game before December 20th, which was the first time the team played together, and are giving [...]
