The Orlando Magic will attempt to sweep Washington play host to the Wizards in their final game before the All-Star break. Both of these teams are coming off much needed wins. The Magic defeated the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers Sunday, winning for the third time in four games. The Wizards won their first road game of the season when they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday. On opening night, the Magic destroyed the Wizards 112-83. Sam Smith, who covers the Chicago Bulls and the NBA in general says the Magic would be ready to make an offer for Zach Randolph. The biggest decisions next week before the trade deadline quietly have to be with Memphis as much as Denver. There seems almost no way with Marc Gasol also up for a new deal the Grizzlies will resign Zach Randolph. Trade him now? The Magic reportedly would be ready to make a huge offer of players and picks. Magic Take Down the Lakers The Orlando Magic dug down and got a much needed victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday evening. The game marked the first time the Magic beat a team with a record over .500 since they defeated the Dirk Nowitzki-less Dallas Mavericks on January 8. If you want to discredit that win because Dallas was without Nowitzki, you have to go back to December 30 when the Magic defeated the New York Knicks 112-103. Here is the official word from the Magic: ORLANDO’S DWIGHT HOWARD NAMED NBA EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Orlando, Fla. – The Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Feb. 7, through Sunday, Feb. 13. It marks the fourth time this season and the 15th time of his career that Howard has earned the league’s top weekly honor. Hope remains!  As it turns out, the Magic season is not dead.  Just when you think that the Magic are just meddling in mediocrity, they come out and play some of their best basketball of the season and defeat the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. In front of a new franchise record 19,193 fans the Magic beat the Lakers by a final score of 89-75. Dwight Howard reminded a national TV audience that he does indeed belong in the MVP discussion finishing the game with 31 points, 13 rebounds and 3 big blocks.  His second half numbers were simply stunning [...]
