Orlando Magic News & Notes: Bobcats Reactions
The Orlando Magic defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 100-79 Friday night. Evan Dunlap explains why the Magic can have success with Jameer Nelson out of the lineup: When the entire team makes a commitment to moving the ball and playing unselfishly, Orlando can succeed even without starting point guard Jameer Nelson, as it did Friday. Nelson sat out with a neck stinger suffered on Thursday, leaving Chris Duhon to start in his place. Duhon played an unspectacular 32 minutes–two points on 1-of-1 shooting, two rebounds, six assists, three turnovers–but Orlando didn’t ask him to do a helluva lot. He and backup [...]

Ryan Anderson led the Magic with 22 points while Dwight Howard scored 16 points and pulled down 24 rebounds. Rookie Marshon Brooks led the Nets with 17 points. Dwight Howard was an absolute monster on both ends of the floor. He scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and could have had even bigger numbers if he didn’t struggle from the free throw line (2-of-9). Orlando Magic News & Notes: Rockets Reactions
Evan Dunlap of Orlando Pinstriped Post explains why a coaching decision helped Hedo Turkoglu have a big fourth quarter: A coaching decision from Stan Van Gundy made Turkoglu’s fourth-quarter performance possible. Van Gundy shifted the veteran to power forward, with Jason Richardson at small forward, Redick at shooting guard, and Jameer Nelson at point guard. Van Gundy didn’t leave Rockets coach Kevin McHale much of a choice: he could either stick with a slow, big lineup with Luis Scola at the four and Sam Dalembert at the five or go small with Scola at center. McHale chose the latter–better to [...]

Hedo Turkoglu led the Magic with 23 points while Kyle Lowry had 20 points and 12 assists for the Rockets. The Magic came out with good energy and immediately tried to get Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu going in the post. Due to their match ups, it looked like a good idea. Richardson had his first shot shot blocked while Turkoglu hit a tough layup. After a couple of missed jumpers, the Magic went [...]
